Privacy Policy
This policy covers the OrbitalBharat website and the Crisp mobile app. Both use one account: signing in to either reaches the same profile.
Information we collect
When you register on the website, we collect your username, email address, and password (stored as a one-way hash, never in plain text).
When you sign in to the Crisp app with Google, Google gives us your name, email address, profile picture and your Google account identifier. We use the identifier to recognise you on later sign-ins and to match you to an existing OrbitalBharat account with the same email. We never receive your Google password. Your name becomes your initial username.
As you use the app or site, we store the topics you follow, the articles you like and bookmark, your reading position, and the comments and reactions you post. If you add a bio or profile picture, those are publicly visible.
Reading the Crisp feed does not require an account. Browse signed out and we store nothing about you; we only ask you to sign in when you follow, like or bookmark something.
How we use it
Your email identifies your account and lets us send essential account-related messages. Your follows and bookmarks exist to give you your own feed and Saved list. We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes, and we do not use your data to build advertising profiles.
Sponsored content
The Crisp feed contains sponsored cards, clearly labelled "Sponsored". They are shown to everyone in the same positions — they are not targeted using your data. Opening one takes you to the advertiser's own site, which has its own privacy policy.
Cookies and app storage
The website uses a session cookie to keep you logged in and a security cookie to protect forms from cross-site request forgery. We don't use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.
The Crisp app stores a sign-in token on your device so you stay signed in. It is held in the device's encrypted storage, is revoked when you sign out, and expires after 90 days.
Third parties
Google provides sign-in for the Crisp app. Their handling of your data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. We use no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs in the app.
Data security
All traffic between the app, the website and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes and sign-in tokens are stored only as hashes — we cannot read either back.
Your rights
You can update your username, email, bio, and profile picture at any time from your profile page.
To delete your account and its data, use Profile → Delete account in the Crisp app, or visit orbitalbharat.com/account/delete in any browser — you do not need the app installed. Deletion is immediate and permanent. It removes your profile, your topic follows, likes, bookmarks and reading position, your comments and reactions, and signs you out of every device.
Articles you have published on orbitalbharat.com are deleted along with your account; the deletion page tells you how many before you confirm. Crisp cards you have written stay published without your name attached.
If you can't sign in to the account you want removed, email support@orbitalbharat.com from the address on the account and we'll delete it for you.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted on this page.
